Harry Connick Jr. ![]() The New Orleans native began performing at the age of six and was educated in some of the best music schools on the east coast. Harry Connick Jr.Æs interest in jazz began around the age of ten which was the music he chose for his first album in 1987, that featured mostly instrumental jazz standards. By 1989, he had established himself in the jazz scene and then was featured in the soundtrack When Harry Met Sally with hits like ôIt had to be Youö, ôLetÆs Call the Whole Thing Offö, and ôDonÆt Get Around Much Anymoreö. The soundtrack went platinum and the singer launched a Big Band world tour that gave him an international fan base. In the 90Æs he had roles in movies like Memphis Belle and continued to release hit albums ranging from jazz to pop and big band. His movie roles like Independence Day in 2000, and his music and family life keep him very busy. In September of 2004, he released his latest CD ôOnly Youö which has been nominated for a Grammy. Harry Connick Jr. has been on a tour since last year with his Big Band. Their national tour will make a stop in Sacramento at the Sacramento Community Center Theatre on Wednesday, February 16th.
