Alan JacksonSome great concert tours are headed to Arco Arena in Sacramento. The venue can hold up to 18,000 fans, is the home of Sacramento Kings Basketball, and hosts most of the major indoor concert and sporting events in the region. Located in the growing Natomas area Arco Arena is a five-minute drive to many shopping areas and a huge variety of restaurants. On Saturday, November 22nd country superstar Alan Jackson will appear in Sacramento. After 20 years in country music the singer has sold over 50 million records, has 33 #1 hit singles, and won countless awards. His latest album Good Time is currently at the top of the charts and the tour will finish next week, then start up again in spring of 09. More concerts coming soon to Arco Arena include Bill Gaither & Friends - Jingle Ball 2008 with Boys Like Girls - David Archuleta - Shontelle - Jesse McCartney - Katy Perry - Sarah Brightman - Nine Inch Nails. nutcracker The Sacramento Community Center Theatre in downtown Sacramento hosts a variety of musical events from major artists to Broadway musicals on tour. The venue has excellent acoustics and plush comfortable theater style seating for an audience of 2,400 with great stage views. There are many restaurants within walking distance in addition to the K Street Mall and the California State Capitol. On Friday November 21st, Sunday November 23rd, & Tuesday November 25th, Sacramento Opera will present The Pirates of Penzance. Coming in December The Sacramento Ballet will present their annual production of The Nutcracker from December 6th – 24th with choreography by Ron Cunningham. The dancers will perform to music played by special guest The Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra. Performances also include a cast of local children in the area who audition every year to be a part of the holiday production and makes it especially fun for kids in the audience. Forever Plaid The Cosmopolitan Cabaret is a brand new venue located in downtown Sacramento at 10th & K Street that hosts the musical production of Forever Plaid presented by California Musical Theatre. The 200-seat theater has an upscale and comfortable atmosphere with table or bar seating. The Cosmo Cafe restaurant at the same location has pre-theater dinning, and Social Night Club is now open upstairs with great guest DJs, VIP service, and a late-night menu. Bay Area Venues hosting concerts NOT coming through the Sacramento area:

AC/DC There are some great concert venues in the Bay Area that are hosting shows not coming through the Sacramento area. Oakland/Oracle Arena hosts a variety of major sporting events and many of the large concert tours that come through Northern California. With seating for over 19,000, 72 luxury suites, and lower level Club Sections the venue provides a lot of choices for fans. AC/DC will roll their sold-out Black Ice World Tour into Northern California for the two shows on Tuesday, December 2nd & Thursday, December 4th. The band's tour has sold-out most arenas in North America and all their dates in Europe next spring. Black Ice is their latest release and is one of very few rock albums to debut at #1 in 2008. More concerts coming soon to Oakland include Oasis with Ryan Adams - Metallica - Live 105's NSSN with The Killers - Death Cab for Cutie - Franz Ferdinand - Bloc Party - Jacks Mannequin. For some great live blues downtown this weekend the Torch Club has Pailer, Taylor and Fratis start things off most Friday afternoons and later on the evening of the 21st Aaron King & the Imperials will appear.
